S1 Insurance

S1 is one of the strongest symbols around. It's been used as a mark on racecars and armoured cars, a safety warning symbol against hazards and it maps the heart of the City of Steel. No wonder we named ourselves after it.

Speedy, Safe, Strong = S1

S1 Direct Pet Insurance Quotes

Most pet owners will care for their animals to the best of their ability. This usually includes feeding, grooming and exercising (unless it's a goldfish) on a regular basis. But many pet owners don't even consider taking out insurance for their pet, which can be an expensive mistake if the worst happens. A Mintel survey in 2007 showed that over half of pet owners had visited the vet unexpectedly over the previous two years. This emphasises the need for insurance cover that guards against the cost of illness and injury.

As with any insurance, you need to check what's covered by a policy before taking it out. The main area that most people are concerned about is vet's fees, which will be included in all pet policies. However, you must check the level of cover provided in terms of the overall amount and the annual benefit. Also, be aware of any excess you will be expected to pay and any conditions and treatments that may be excluded. You'll generally find that basic pet care, such as grooming, parasite control and standard examinations are not included.

Vet's fees are, of course, only part of the costs associated with pet ownership and some others can be as onerous as they are unexpected. It is, therefore, important to ensure that your pet insurance policy provides extensive cover. If your pet has severe injuries or is unlikely to recover from an illness, the cost of the animal being put down and the subsequent burial or cremation being covered by the policy will be an advantage.

There's always the likelihood that your dog or cat will run into the road and cause a traffic accident or that your dog will attack a member of the public. In these cases, you will be liable for any costs and these may well be far in excess of vet's fees that are supposedly the main purpose of pet insurance. It's important, therefore, that the policy includes public liability cover to avoid these potentially huge costs.

Policies may also provide compensation if you have to cancel a holiday due to your pet's illness or may cover kennel fees while you're away. A reward may be offered if your pet is lost or stolen and a poster campaign may be funded.
